JOURNEY

My visual memory starts with me looking out of my geologist dad's VW bus onto a sinking truck on a salt lake in the Sahara dessert. This first road trip at age four is followed by countless impressions of living in different countries and passing through even more. And continuously added on to by the daily magic of now living in Hawaii.
The in between is filled with countless stories, people, experiences, books, art , music, maps and ideas.
Studying architecture at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and in Germany, followed by studying photography in Los Angeles.
Being trained in film and large format cameras, in black+white and color printing, I only recently got emerged in digital photography and its amazing possibilities of expression.
After living in many big cities, I now feel most at home in the ocean, next to a camp fire under the stars or on a road trip with a camera.

VISION

In my current projects I try to combine a design influenced visual aesthetic to portray and promote our most valuable luxury, our oceans and remaining open natural spaces.
I use photography in this context as a tool that goes beyond the literal and the mere representation of a so called reality.
My intention is to evoke the invisible, the emotions and stories a space holds and imparts on its viewer.
The mystery of the elements, twilight and darkness, the secrets and the revelations of nature.
